it wasn’t so much as words today
but a painting I viewed on the way
transfixed upon it, pained and delighted
it held my attention it held recognition
a simple room, the bed was made
tidy and clean, simple decoration
but the walls, the ceiling, all around
like the inside of a mind pieces and bits
images, postcards, paintings
eclectic mix, misrouted, and rearranged
in random disorder of god knows what
hanging like mysterious mist
